John advises on all aspects of banking and real estate finance matters for a wide spectrum of lender and borrower clients. John has significant experience of high value property finance, restructuring and development finance. This experience includes syndicated and bilateral agreements, revolving credit facilities, term facilities, letter of credit facilities, bank guarantees, debt restructurings and project financings.

He has also advised on transactions secured against a wide variety of assets including wealth portfolios and single stock investments across multiple jurisdictions.

For lender clients, John can also assist with funding lines, preparing standard loan documentation, product terms and conditions as well as other client-facing documentation. He regularly collaborates with other practice areas, particularly real estate, development and company commercial.

Recent experience

• Advised an international property developer on a £25m refinance of their portfolio of 3 hotels.
• Have acted for a FTSE 250 Bank on numerous deals for acquisition, investment and development finance with a combined value of over £200m.
• Acted for a developer in relation to the acquisition of an office block in Reading to be developed into a residential and mixed living space. This required senior and Mezzanine funding totalling £32m for the acquisition and build cost.
• Acted for a property investment company on the £38m refinance of their out-of-town retail park portfolio across the UK.
• Acted for an Institutional Lender to put in place a funding line of £100m to a Bridging Lender.
• Representing a national housebuilder in obtaining development finance for 2 schemes worth approximately £20m.
• Advised an international hospitality group on refinancing their hotel portfolio across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advising and acting for Mezzanine funders on a series of development projects.
