About Jane

Jane advises on a wide range of commercial and residential contentious property issues.  She is a landlord and tenant specialist, with over 20 years’ experience acting for leading high street retailers, property funds, commercial occupiers, landlords and private clients across several sectors.  She has considerable expertise in all aspects of commercial leasehold disputes, including lease renewal and portfolio management work, break clauses, dilapidations, remedies for breach of covenant, and exit strategies.   Her development expertise includes advising on disputes concerning development agreements, the implementation of option and promotion agreements, rights of way, restrictive covenants, easements and adverse possession.

In addition, Jane deals with insolvency related property issues, possession claims, unlawful occupiers, and issues relating to the beneficial ownership of land under trusts.  She also has experience in estate and asset management.

Recent Experience

  • Advising occupier client in manufacturing sector in relation to all aspects of its portfolio, including obtaining landlord’s consents for assignments, alterations, exercising break clauses, and dealing with dilapidations.
  • Advising occupier clients in relation to failure to correctly exercise break options, involving negotiations for exit and minimising liability;
  • Advising landlord in relation to unauthorised structural alterations by high street tenant, under the terms of a lease with an absolute prohibition on works;
  • Acting for shopping centre landlord in relation to recovery of sums due for landlord’s works under bespoke covenant in the lease;
  • Advising developer in relation to dispute with motorway services occupier regarding interpretation of agreement for lease and obligations to comply with planning conditions, averting a claim for specific performance;
  • Advising developer on exercise of put option and compliance with pre-conditions;
  • Advising various co-owners of property in respect of declarations for extent of beneficial ownership and orders for possession and sale;
