Safeguarding for Faith Organisations

Safeguarding for Faith Organisations

We are leaders in the field in the complex area of safeguarding allegations management, advising Diocesan Boards of Finance, Diocesan Bishops, cathedral chapters and faith charities when allegations are made against employees, clergy office holders and volunteers. Such matters are normally complex, requiring strategic and sensitive advice in respect of a number of related areas including employment law, clergy disciplinary procedures, data privacy (information sharing), caring for victims and survivors, crisis management, investigations and lessons learned reviews.

Our work includes:

  • Advising Church of England Safeguarding Case Management Groups tasked with overseeing the response to safeguarding concerns
  • Advising Church of England clergy and other office holders who have had allegations made against them
  • Safeguarding and governance reviews and investigations
  • Advice in relation to church and cathedral choirs
  • Advice about risk assessment processes and safeguarding agreements.
  • Safeguarding complaints handling and dispute resolution
  • Advising on all related employment and clergy HR issues such as suspension
  • Advising faith charities, cathedral chapters and parishes about safeguarding policies, systems, practices and culture
  • Advising on safer recruitment and references, and related data privacy and information sharing issues
  • Serious incident reporting to the Charity Commission
