Prior to qualification, Gillian trained at Winckworth Sherwood where she gained experience across the firm’s property and commercial practice areas. Gillian qualified into the construction team in September 2021 and acts for developers, contractors, sub-contractors, registered providers and local authorities on contentious and non-contentious matters.

Recent experience

• Acting for developers in pursuing claims against contractors and other liable parties for building safety defects at residential developments from pre-action stage through to high-court litigation or adjudication as required.
• Acting for a sub-contractor in two successful simultaneous true-value adjudications.
• Acting for registered providers advising on insolvency of contractors in modular development schemes, including advising on recovery of monies via NHBC cover, insurance claims and performance bonds.
• Advising developers on structuring joint venture projects in light of the Building Safety Act 2022 and potential joint and several liability of a JV member under a Building Liability Order.
• Drafting and negotiation of full suites of construction documents including JCT and NEC forms of building contracts, collateral warranties, letters of reliance and parent company guarantees.
• Drafting and advising on development agreements in respect of large residential schemes.
