About Jackie

Jackie qualified in 2009 and joined the Property Dispute Resolution Team. She advises on property disputes for a variety of Registered Providers of Social Housing, public bodies, charitable organisations, corporate clients and individuals with property portfolios. Her particular expertise is in residential Landlord and Tenant disputes and Housing/Leasehold Management. Her expertise includes advising on breaches of tenancy/leases, recovery of rent and service charge arrears and forfeiture cases.

Jackie also advises on collective enfranchisement, lease extension and right to manage claims and upon commercial lease disputes, in particular those arising under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.

Recent Experience

  • Designing and implementing a debt recovery regime for service charge and ground rent arrears for a major managing agent
  • Advising a Registered Provider in the interpretation of clauses in a Lease which provided a warden’s flat in a retirement home, in light of a collective enfranchisement claim to see whether a particular room formed part of the common parts
  • Assisting with preparing for a hearing before the LVT proceedings brought by a tenant to who challenged the reasonableness of service charges. The decision was appealed and Jackie assisted with representations to the Lands Tribunal
  • Advising an RSL upon the procedure to obtain a lease extension where the Freeholder was absent
