About Harriet

Harriet is a Legal Director and specialises in employment and partnership law.

Harriet has a deep understanding of employment and partnership law and provides advice to a broad spectrum of clients, ranging from multi-national companies to start ups on business matters, and senior executives and partners on individual matters.

Harriet’s experience is diverse and includes HR advisory work, complex and sensitive disputes, settlement negotiations, dismissals, employment tribunal litigation and acting as an independent investigator.

Harriet is known for her considered, practical and empathetic approach to her work. She takes great care in getting to know her clients and understanding their particular circumstances, enabling her to provide tailored advice and deliver real strategic value. She has been recognised as a “key lawyer” in Legal 500 2024 where she is described as “quick to understand the issues, and provides clear advice to support the needs of our organisation.’

Recent Experience

Employment

  • Advising a professional services firm on the complex removal of their CFO
  • Advising a property investment company on a collective redundancy and restructuring exercise and preparing all the requisite documentation.
  • Advising a technology company regarding post-termination restrictions, protection of confidential information and breaches of contract, following the departure of one of their senior employers to a competitor
  • Undertaking multiple independent investigations relating to employment issues for a multi-national fast food chain
  • Drafting bespoke documentation including director service agreements, employment contracts, consultancy agreements and staff handbooks

Senior Executive

  • Acting for a senior employee in respect of his high value discrimination claim against a global investment bank and successfully negotiating a favourable settlement shortly before the Tribunal hearing commenced
  • Advising numerous senior female employees on their pregnancy and maternity discrimination claims following their return to work and, in each case, achieving a favourable outcome
  • Assisting a senior female employee with her grievance regarding race and sex discrimination following a unlawful demotion
  • Advising an employee on long term sick leave in respect of his disability discrimination and constructive dismissal claim against a multi-national organisation
  • Advising a senior executive in the financial services sector on the terms of their service agreement and bonus and equity entitlements

Partnership

  • Advising an equity partner of a multi-national law firm after he was expelled from the partnership after raising whistleblowing complaints.

 

Harriet also regularly delivers training and seminars on various aspects of employment law. She is a thought leader and has conducted research and co-authored reports on wellbeing in the workplace, workplace culture, flexible working and EDI. 2024 Wellbeing research2022 EDI research2021 Ethical Leadership research and 2020 Flexible Working research. She has also commented on these issues at industry and client events and in the press and HR trade magazines.
