Christel Aguila is Director of IT and a Partner at Winckworth Sherwood, with overall responsibility for the firm’s IT and Information Security strategy, as well as the delivery of technology and transformation projects across the business. Since the early 2000s, Christel has been instrumental in delivering innovative client-focussed online solutions that have won legal tech awards, systems that are actively used by major clients to date. Her coding background and commitment to continuous improvement have driven numerous change initiatives across the firm. She is deeply passionate about turning ideas into practical solutions that solve problems and streamline processes to improve both internal and client user experiences, as well as maximising the value people derive from existing technologies  whether through cross platform integration, automated workflows or AI tools in support of the firm’s overall strategy.

Over the past two decades, she has led major IT transformation programmes, including the migration of legacy systems to SaaS platforms and the strengthening of the firm’s information and cyber security programme.

Before moving into the legal sector over two decades ago, she worked in other industries in the UK and abroad. She gained her IT experience in a hybrid role in software development and infrastructure with an engineering machinery firm in Japan now owned by Citizen Watch. This has led to work experiences in Manila and Hong Kong. Christel holds an engineering degree and has completed an MBA in Technology Management and Strategy in 2015.
