Amy is a Legal Director in our Education Department and sits in the Schools HR team. Amy provides advice to schools, academy trusts, charities and other educational institutions on all manner of employment law and HR issues. Amy has specialised in employment law for well over a decade and has previously worked at (what was) Russell Jones & Walker, Browne Jacobson and most recently the UK’s maternity rights charity, Maternity Action.

Amy’s prior experience in advising both employees and employers allows her to give strategic and pragmatic advice, and to take a 360-degree view on any one employee relations matter or dispute.

Amy has advised a diverse range of clients including luxury retail, healthcare, education, senior executives, the police and care workers.

Recent experience

• Advised several schools on staffing issues including performance, grievances, capability procedures and reinstating employee successfully back into workplace;
• Prepared defence and conducted own advocacy in two-day unfair dismissal hearing;
• Secured several six-figure settlements for senior executives, involving matters of whistleblowing, age discrimination and unfair dismissal;
• Negotiated and secured largest settlement at organisation relating to discrimination matter for a senior executive;
• Instrumental in development of casework and peer support service with funding secured twice through the Big Lottery;
• Advised on and secured promotion for a senior professional following grievance raised regarding maternity discrimination;
• Secured several highly favourable settlement outcomes on whistleblowing, disability discrimination, unfair dismissal, breach of contract and sex discrimination claims for health sector client ahead of hearings
