Partner James Duncan comments in Property Week on whether the government can reach its net zero carbon goal by 2050.
With a lack of concrete measures, the property industry is not clear how the UK can meet it’s environmental targets. Though the net zero carbon goal is 2050, Winckworth Sherwood Partner James Duncan points out that 2023 is the year everyone should be focussed on, as that’s when the UK intends to begin regulating sustainability-related financing, following the EU’s example.
“There is specific legislation coming through in the financial sector” he says, “We need to start working out how to comply now.”
