WS Fan Dance Hike Raises Money for The Brain Tumour Charity

Share

Over the weekend a group of WS volunteers took on the infamous Fan Dance to raise money for our charity of the year, The Brain Tumour Charity. Despite its name the Fan Dance is actually not some kind of rhythmic gymnastics class but rather a 15-mile (weighted) hike around Pan Y Fan, South Wales, that forms part of the SAS selection process.

After an overnight stay in Merthyr Tydfil, a group of twenty WS volunteers set off early Saturday morning and soon reached the peak of Pen Y Fan, before the true challenge set in with a steep descent of the Devil’s Staircase. A few hours later, after a steep crawl up the Crybin, they finally made it to the goal of their trek, only to then have to turn around and do the whole thing again in reverse.

Congratulations to Tom, Sue, Tiana, Adele, Kate, Charlie, Myesha, Jennifer, Duncan, Pippa, Isabel, Alison, Ben, Emma, Philip, Tilly, James, Jack, Aine and Dan – the sore feet were worth it as they raised over £6,000 for the Brain Tumour Charity. There is still time to add to this number so please donate if you can.
