Kawsar specialises in construction and related insurance disputes.
Kawsar has assisted on a variety of claims that have arisen under construction contracts, including those with respect to professional negligence matters relating to consultants, termination, defects, delay, and payment claims.
Kawsar’s clients include property owners, developers, employers, contractors, professionals, and insurers. He has experience of various forms of dispute resolution including TCC litigation, adjudication, and pre-action disputes.
Kawsar has also assisted in claims relating to fire safety, and has been involved in reviewing works contracts and licences arising from the developer’s pledge to assess and remediate buildings with fire safety defects.

Recent experience
- Acted for a leading international engineering consultancy (and its professional indemnity insurer) in relation to a very sizeable professional negligence claim relating to brickwork cladding defects on flagship buildings at a university.
- Acted for a local council, in the defence of a c.£1.4m adjudication brought by a main contractor in relation to a range of extensions of time and associated loss and expense totalling a significant sum. The claim was defended such that the adjudicator only awarded 2% of the claimed sum.
- Acted for a property developer in relation to complex disputes arising from water supply issues and achieved a final determination from OFWAT in our client’s favour.
- Acted for an asset management fund who procured the development of a novel hybrid jet/rocket testing site. Due to delays and defects in the works, the tenant rescinded the agreement for lease and subsequently claimed c.£70m for wasted costs and loss of profits.
- Acted on matter advising insurer client on coverage issues under a design and build professional indemnity policy in respect of a range of cladding and other defects claims
- Acted on behalf of private individuals in respect of a professional negligence claim against an architect for the design of an extension to a chalet in Val-d’Isère.
- Advised a local council in respect of termination following default by a contractor.
- Acted on behalf of Dubai based delay and quantum expert company in relation to recovering sums owed under a JV agreement in relation to a project in Qatar.
- TCC Part 8 proceedings in relation to challenging an Adjudicators decision in relation to the validity and status of our client’s pay less notice.
- Drafting and negotiating ‘Works Contracts’ and Licences entered into pursuant to the ‘Developers Pledge’ on behalf of investor client and managing agents.
