Winckworth Sherwood has strengthened its market-leading Education Law team with the appointment of Qaisar Sheikh.
Qaisar joins the firm on 2 September as a Legal Director. He was previously Head of Education Law and a senior solicitor at Coram Children’s Legal Centre leading a team of 13 to 15 case workers. Coram Children’s Legal Centre is part of the Coram group of charities that promotes and protects the rights of children in the UK.
Qaisar brings to the firm considerable expertise in supporting children and their families in challenging local authorities in relation to special needs and discrimination cases. His work was recognised by the Law Society winning its 2023 Legal Hero award and in 2022 he was named Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (Public Law category). Additionally, Qaisar brings deep expertise in public and discrimination law.
Winckworth Sherwood’s 20-strong Education Law team represents a large number of schools and academy trusts, dioceses, trustee bodies, universities and colleges. The team has a strong reputation for its work with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) children.
