Ashley is a construction lawyer with experience acting on complex and high value UK and international disputes and transactions. He frequently acts for household name clients to avoid or resolve disputes through High Court litigation, adjudication, ICC, LCIA and ad hoc arbitration, expert determination, and mediation.

Ashley also has specialist expertise regarding fire safety and insurance issues in both commercial and residential properties and construction projects.

  • Representing a well-known European renewable energy contractor in respect of an extension of time and prolongation costs claim in connection with a UK offshore wind project affected by structural design defects and extreme seabed conditions.
  • Advising a leading UK property developer in relation to two disputes concerning defects in insulation, compartmentation and rain-screen cladding in two large mixed commercial and residential development projects in the UK.
  • Acting for the employer in an expert determination regarding the scope of the contractor’s design portion and rectification of latent defects in a UK based industrial plant.
  • Representing a leading European supplier of tidal power generation plant and equipment in relation to an ICC arbitration concerning a suite of supply agreements for a UK offshore power generation project.
  • Acting for a household name property investor in a dispute concerning a high value UK commercial development, in the context of the insolvency of the main contractor.
  • Acting for a range of UK and international clients to avoid or resolve interim and final account disputes through adjudication.
  • Representing a Munich based high-technology firm in a dispute relating to delay and defects in construction of a cutting-edge lightweight materials development plant in the UK, including through the FIDIC early warning and Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Board procedures.
  • Defending a claim issued in the UK Technology and Construction Court against a UK domiciled contractor concerning a UK modular housing development.
