About Eleanor

Eleanor is a Senior Associate in Winckworth Sherwood’s Employment team. She acts for a variety of clients across a range of business sectors including financial services and insurance.  Eleanor advises both employers and employees/directors, which gives her a balanced perspective and a broad understanding of employment issues, as well as a valuable insight when advising clients on strategy and tactics.

Eleanor regularly advises on high value, complex and sensitive departures of employees, directors and partners, and disputes regarding competition, protection of confidential information, breaches of contract and remuneration decisions.  She has a considerable amount of experience handling claims in the Employment Tribunal, often with multiple parties, numerous witnesses and involving allegations of discrimination and whistleblowing.

As well as contentious matters, Eleanor routinely provides ad hoc advice on employment issues, including contractual and policy documentation, redundancy/restructuring, grievance/disciplinary procedures and long term sickness absence.  She has extensive experience in advising on discrimination issues in the workplace.

Recent Experience

  • Acting for a senior employee in her equal pay case against a prestigious institution and achieving a timely resolution
  • Successfully defending (after a four week hearing) multiple, high profile claims of race discrimination involving a novel point of law concerning the issue of a ‘qualifications body’ under the Equality Act
  • Acting for a senior Board member of a luxury travel company in relation to allegations of breaches of director’s duties and successfully negotiating his exit
  • Representing a senior insurance executive in a dispute involving an unfair prejudice petition and claims of breach of contract, wrongful dismissal and unfair dismissal and successfully settling this high value matter at a mediation lasting two days
