Arezou’s experience includes international arbitration, complex commercial litigation and energy, infrastructure and construction transactions and projects.

Arezou has represented clients in arbitrations governed by the ICC, LMAA, LCIA and UNCITRAL rules. Arezou’s commercial litigation experience encompasses arbitration related applications including challenges to Arbitration Awards, advising on jurisdiction and interim applications. She also has experience in substantive large scale and complex commercial disputes in the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Arezou’s experiences in transactional matters have involved advising on renewable energy, oil and gas, construction and infrastructure projects and joint ventures.

Recent Project Experience:

  • Advising developer on bids, contract terms and arrangements for new regeneration projects relating to development of a major car park and over 400 residential dwellings for a project valued over £40,000,000.
  • Advising developer in relation to construction management arrangements for new development and regeneration project.
  • Advising on Operation and Maintenance Contracts and Interface Agreements.
  • Drafting and negotiating various construction contracts including EPC, FIDIC, and IChemi and related security documents.
  • Drafting and negotiating procurement subcontracts for equipment and services.
  • Drafting and negotiating Collaboration and Non-Disclosure Agreements in relation to bids for new projects.

Recent Dispute Resolution Experience:

  • Advising residential property group in relation to pursuing claims against contractor in respect of costs of remediation measures for combustible cladding on high rise housing under a JCT Design and Build Contract.
  • Advising developers in relation to the liability and defence of defect claims under a Development Agreement
  • Managing various adjudications in relation to delay, liquidated damages, defects, final account and payment, and advising on subsequent settlements.
  • Acting in an ICC dispute for a commercial bank in the MENA region, as respondents following a multimillion claim under an Advance, Performance and Retention Bond issued to finance a joint venture for the design, upgrade and construction of a power plant.
  • Acting in an offshore construction dispute for an FPSO operator in defence and counterclaim against a shipyard in LCIA proceedings for over EUR100,000,000 for the design and upgrade of an FPSO.
  • Acting for an offshore engineering and construction company, as contractors under a FIDIC contract against subcontractors in ICC dispute for circa EUR100,000,000 for the design, procurement, construction and installation of jackets and cables for an offshore windfarm.
