Gain Insight into Life at WS

Gain Insight into Life at WS

For two weeks in July, we invite ten aspiring solicitors to join us in our London office. The Vacation Scheme is a chance for you to gain a real insight into the workings of a busy London law firm with a diverse, high profile and specialist client base. Our Vacation Scheme will take place in July 2022.

While with us, you will:

  • experience work in two of the firm’s departments under the direction of leading practitioners
  • become familiar with the workings of the firm at all levels and across all departments
  • get a true feel for our culture, our people, and the way we work

What will I be doing for the two weeks?

What will I be doing for the two weeks?

You’ll start off with an in-depth induction. Then you’ll join your first department and spend just under a week getting to know the ropes there. You’ll move to your second department for the second week. During this time you’ll be fully exposed to the diverse range of work that we do.

You’ll be given real tasks, such as:

  • attending client meetings
  • research
  • helping with the drafting of documents
  • attending legal seminars
  • visiting clients, courts or other institutions which the firm is connected to

While in each department a current trainee or member of staff will be assigned to look after you, answer any queries and ensure that your time is being well spent. You’ll also receive a presentation from each department about the workings of their practice area. The idea is to give you as full a picture of the firm as possible in a short period of time.

Will there be a social element?

Will there be a social element?

We like to think we’re a pretty sociable and welcoming bunch. So you should get a taste of the social life of the firm – the best way for everyone to get to know each other on a personal as well as professional level.

There will be:

  • A welcome lunch with partners and staff
  • Drinks with our current trainees who will give you their account of life at Winckworth Sherwood
  • Opportunities to meet socially with colleagues in your departments
